In the watch industry it is perhaps the most legendary Seiko and one of the most famous watches ever, the Seiko “Col. William Pogue ”. The first automatic watch in space!
Astronaut William Pogue took this watch with him on the Skylab 4 mission in his private belongings in 1973. The watch was not approved for space by NASA. Back then it was only the hand-wound Omega Speedmaster. However, since he had done most of the training before the mission with the Seiko and not the Omega, Pogue wanted them with him. He actually used it to time the capsule fires. According to Pogue, the Seiko ran smoothly in weightlessness. Thus the Seiko Pogue is one of the very few watches that have been in space!
Our copy has just undergone a complete overhaul and is almost new, including the original bracelet! With its gold dial, Pepsi bezel and of course its history, the Seiko Pogue is definitely one of the coolest watches ever!
